ABOUT PAULA MILLAN

Over the past four years, I have used my passion for local government, along with my experience, education, knowledge-base, leadership skills, and willingness to work as a team to serve effectively as your Mayor. I want to continue the momentum of our current council and manager relationship to address the issues that are important to you. I believe we must encourage a family and business-friendly city while maintaining our standards in all future development. I will represent the values and traditions that have been woven into Clawson for decades and will proudly represent you, our most important resource, our residents. 

My most important role is that of wife to David and mother to Alyssa and Nick. We have lived in Clawson for 12 years. Dave recently joined the Lions. Alyssa graduated from the International Academy, Miami University, and Oakland University. Nicholas is a graduate of Clawson high school and Oakland University. (GO Grizzlies!) Both are Clawson homeowners. Our Clawson roots go back to my Mom (Claudia Wells-1960) and my Aunt (Sharon Sherry Wells-1961) Clawson High School graduates. Fun Fact: Aunt Sherry is a former "Miss Clawson." We enjoy riding our bikes through town, getting dinner or a snack at local restaurants, and shopping at our local stores. We worship and serve at Woodside Bible Church in Troy. We are proud of our faith, our family, and our community.

 Absolutely, the PEOPLE! We came to Clawson as a "School of Choice" family. The teachers, coaches, children, and families who welcomed us to the Clawson community, even before we invested in a home here, are the reason we are here today. Because of these strong relationships, we chose to invest and grow our family in Clawson. There is a sense of pride & community evidenced in what Clawson residents convey to "outsiders," but most importantly, there is a commitment demonstrated in the way the people of Clawson support one another. We are proud to belong to the Clawson family. 

• I will use my experience and education to help guide Clawson  into the future; creating an identity that is uniquely Clawson, while  maintaining the traditions and values that have made this city a  desirable place to live, work and own a business.
• I will work to ensure the “Gem’s” of our city are protected, while allowing for future growth and development. 
• I  will work with the City Council, Clawson Administration, and local  businesses to encourage development and policies that will grow our  city, but not at the expense of the homeowners. 
• I will encourage increased communication and accountability between all parties involved in our local government.
• I will fight for fiscal accountability and to maintain our city services.
• I  will work with our elected representatives and businesses to seek  funding opportunities to attack some of our costly issues at hand.
• I will respect my fellow council members and work openly to achieve what is best for this community.
• I will encourage dialogue to find ways to meet the needs of our community and all stakeholders.
